SolarEdge power optimizers - increase the efficiency of the PV plant
A SolarEdge system consists of separate SolarEdge power optimizers, which are mounted on the back of the solar panels. Thereby a simple inverter is placed, to generate 230V AC voltage. Each optimizer has the latest built-in technology to maximize the energy yield. A string of 8 to 25 power optimizers can be connected to a single-phase inverter. On a three-phase inverter, this varies from about 16 to 50 power optimizers. Of course, multiple (unequal) strings are possible, as long as each string fits the selected inverter.
By connecting SolarEdge power optimizers to solar panels, the panels become intelligent and produce more power.

The SolarEdge power optimizers increase the energy output of PV systems by continuously following the Maximum Power Point (MPP) of each individual panel. In addition, the power optimizers monitor the performance of each panel and communicate performance data to the SolarEdge monitoring platform for enhanced, cost-effective panel-level maintenance. Each power optimizer is equipped with the unique SafeDC™ mechanism that automatically switches the panel's DC voltage to a lower level when the inverter or grid power is disconnected.
Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) per panel allows flexible installation design with multiple orientations, inclinations, and panel types in the same string. SolarEdge power optimizers in combination with SolarEdge inverters automatically maintain a fixed string voltage which gives installers even more flexibility with longer strings and strings of different lengths to design optimal PV systems. The SolarEdge power optimizers are compatible with c-Si and thin-film panels and come with a 25-year warranty.
